toneinblack Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 Hi all,Has anybody got any idea how you lift the front seat and frame up off the floor high enough to get in the under floor pockets? I know i used to get in them with no problem but even with pulling both side levers on front seats ( and the seats do rise ) the frames are still on the floor so i cant lift the lids .Any ideas?thanks in advance chaps  Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 Lift the front seats  slide them forward, then unlock the cover and lift/slide it off :) easy when you know how ;) Quote
sasquartch Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 I never there were underfloor compartments - is this only on particular models ? Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 All models have them, on Mk1's there is a lockable hard cover and the Mk2's I've seen, it's just a plastic cover clipped into place and a section of carpet held in place by velcro Quote
Justice Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 Lol. my wife used my old car for 3 mths before she found it had 6 gears Quote
Scorpiorefugee Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 I've a mk1 & mk2 and I've just scurried out in the dark and cold to investigeate this new toy. Alas, all I can find is a piece of saggy carpet and a sort of hole with no plastic cover, oh, and a very small spray can with an illegible label. None of this fits in with VR6's description so, do I need to look further or are they only fitted to thirsty petrol models to keep all of the negotioable stuff in needed to exchange for vast quantities of fuel? :) Ron. Guest vr6galaxy Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 All of the Mk1's I stripped parts from have had the hard lockable covers fitted, the majority of the Mk2's I 've seen have the flimsy plastic and carpet flap  Quote
purplemadboy Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 HI Guys I have a mk2 (i think)55 plate,i also ran out in the dark only to find a bit of carpet covering some wires.I also looked in the handbook and there is nothing said about it,so i think this is not a storage compartment  Quote
Scorpiorefugee Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 Thanks anyway. I think I'll use mine for keeping a stock of plastic gloves for the very rare occasions when I have to stop to top up with the smelly stuff. Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 Mk1 storage under seat cover.... Quote
purplemadboy Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 ooooh dont have anything like that(nice keyboard) Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 picture from parts list book.... Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 Again from parts list book, under seat security box.... Quote
Scorpiorefugee Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 Nope! Nothing like that. Just a bit of garpet and grubby little hole and wires in the way(In both). It looks as if the tray bit (part 1 in the first diagram) is there so I'll have a better look in the daylight. I cannot see that a plastic cover was ever there as there is no hole in the carpet but it does have some bits of velcro-like stuff on and corresponding strips in the edges of the hole. Box - maybe of a sort. Secure - no way. But, who's complaining? ;) :) Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 The security box was an option Quote
Scorpiorefugee Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 You should go on one of the quiz programs with Galaxy as your speciality. Quote
~adema~ Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 Hi chaps I use the storage area under my seat to stow a first aid kit and latex gloves (for filling up purposes btw...lol).Some friends of mine hired a Galaxy to do a booze and fags run over the channel and stashed a load extra ciggies under the front seats but customs were wise to it, probably seen it a thousand times before. Also comes in handy for threatening to stuff the mother in law into on those long summer journeys when she just won't stop yakkin in my left ear from the middle row...lol. Considering letting her see me load a bag of lime and a shovel into the bootspace this year  ~adema~ Quote
toneinblack Posted February 9, 2006 Author Report Posted February 9, 2006 Lift the front seats  slide them forward, then unlock the cover and lift/slide it off ;) easy when you know how ;)Tried this and the frame is tight on the floor so cant slide the covers off :) i know ive done it before when i had to sort out the optional extra indoor swimming pool lol , Quote
bigdaddy Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 I have the storage area with the flimsy velcroed carpet,,,but no security box,,,,as per vr6 descripition,,,,,,,so i used the storage place in the passenger side to hold freeview box and playstation and the drivers side got the power inverter and dvd player,,,, :) :D Quote
AndeeeH Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 On the subject of hidden storage compartments I hope that all you Mk 2 owners have found the ones in the front doors below the speakers that don't seem to be mentioned in the earlier owners manuals......... Andy. Quote

Rallim Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 The front pockets in the front doors I think are a bit of a vw thing, I remember my mk2 Golf had similar. Gordon. Quote
